Bethany is a top motivational speaker who has become a source of inspiration to millions through her story of determination, faith, and hope.
Her Story: As a rising surf star at the age of 13, Bethany lost her left arm to a 14-foot tiger shark, which seemed to end her dream career. However, one month after the attack, Bethany returned to surfing and within two years had won her first national surfing title. Bethany’s foundation of faith has been her backbone: her source of truth, hope, and strength. At 17 years old, she realized her dream of surfing professionally, and she is still an active surf competitor to this day.

3:00-4:30 p.m. – Keynote Speaker – Raekwon, Iconic Rapper and “Budding” Entrepreneur
Raekwon is revered as one of the most distinctive voices in rap and a standout member of the Wu-Tang Clan. At 51, he’s a platinum-selling artist, a record executive, owner of the wine company Licataa, and founder of Ice H2O Records. He is a sought-after collaborator, appearing on tracks with some of the biggest acts in hip hop, including OutKast, Nas, Kanye West, and other entrepreneurs.
His Story: Hope is all Raekwon had. Born Corey Woods in Brownsville, New York, in 1970, Raekwon had a loving mother, extended family, and a community who cared for him dearly, but that didn’t protect him from the societal ills faced by black men born in the 70s and 80s in underserved urban communities. Police brutality, poor housing, poor schools, food deserts, limited opportunities, racism, gang violence, and fatherlessness—all this fell on Raekwon’s head before middle school.

Nothing was handed to Raekwon on a silver platter. He had access to very limited opportunities, and the chances to succeed or even stay alive were slim. Yet, through grit, pain, and perseverance, he became the core member of the most iconic rap group in history. Then he masterfully pivoted to become a successful entrepreneur, where he continues to build his empire on a daily basis.

His Story: Lawrence has built a career out of doing hard things. In 2008, after losing his home and car in the recession, he left his job as a mortgage broker and started over. He went to work for his father-in-law at a nonprofit that invests in solutions for water scarcity called In Our Own Quiet Way. EVERYTHING about him—including his climb to the top, his entrepreneurial journey, and why he has so many different side hustles and too many golden nuggets of knowledge to outline here. He even has a book called The Perfect Day to Boss Up: A Hustler’s Guide to Building Your Empire, so why on earth would he NOT be our featured keynote at Residual Retreats? His Story: Aside from being the CEO of Maybach Music, Ross also owns 25 Wingstop locations, is a franchise owner of Checkers and Rally’s restaurants, has a partnership with spirits brands Luc Belaire and Bumbu, has his own men’s hair and beard grooming line (RICH by Rick Ross), is in partnership with Rap Snacks and Verzuz, has ventured into the cannabis industry with Cookies, and even has a partnership with CTRL: A Meal Replacement. Believe it or not, that’s just the tip of the iceberg for what this mogul has been cooking up. He even rents out his 235-acre Atlanta-area home, dubbed The Promise Land, to film studios (it’s where Coming 2 America was shot). Uber and Lyft drivers are abundant in Arizona, and cars are always available. The only shuttle we will be providing will be from the Sunday morning excursion to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport—not Mesa Airport.
